My New Job

I would just like to officially share that I'm starting my new job this week - doing accounting/bookkeeping back in the Missions world. Praise the Lord. I'm feeling nervous, which is normal but there's a little excitement brewing as well. I know the Lord orchestrated this all so I can start this week with confidence knowing this is where God wants me to be. Thank you Lord for working this all out.

The Blacklist!

There aren't that many good TV shows on these days, especially when it comes to new shows, which continue to push the boundaries of what is considered entertainment and acceptable content. BLECK.

But one show that started this fall, is The Blacklist. And I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

What an interesting concept and it has me hooked. Why did he choose Lizzie as the only agent he will talk to? Whats the connection from the past and how does he know so much about her? What about the husband and the stuff she found in the floorboards? Is her husband somehow related to Remmington? How is that all going to come out? Oh the questions! Can't wait for another episode!

Has the Mafia Infiltrated the CRA?

I heard this in the news today and it just makes me shake my head....

The government gave a large tax refund cheque to a mob boss who was in jail at the time and owed the government over 1.5 million in back taxes.... What?!?!

Quoted from The Globe and Mail website article
"The Canada Revenue Agency is acknowledging that it “incorrectly” sent a $381,737 tax refund to mob boss Nicolo Rizzuto, and vowing to crack down on any wrongdoing inside the tax-collection agency."
This suggests either incompetence or corruption,” NDP MP Murray Rankin said in an interview."

It is not often I agree with the NDP, but I do agree with that statement!

A TV Station for Dogs? Huh?

Okay seriously. Apparently there is now a TV station for dogs. No, not about dogs. FOR dogs. This is what the website says:

DOGTV’s 24/7 programing helps stimulate, entertain, relax and habituate
dogs with shows that expose them to various movements, sounds, objects,
experiences and behavior patterns, all from a dog’s point of view.

Who pays for this? Who uses this? Who would purchase this channel? Oh my goodness. I really don't know what else to say.

Oh trust me, I LOVE dogs. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I adore animals, especially doggies and how much I love Chewie. But come on, isn't this a little over the top????

My Hurricane Called Life

Waiting with Faith

I'm really questioning some things in life these days. But in a healthy way.

Where do You want me Lord? What do You want me to do in this situation? What about in this situation?  What is the right decision to make here? Is that Your nudging or my own wants?

I have always found that the best possible place to be, is in the center of
God's will, even if it seems scary. There is no better place to be. Ever.

I think the hardest part about that, is that sometimes it means we have to WAIT
for the Lord to show us what to do. Waiting is the hardest.
But I need to try to
wait with FAITH, not with worry.

"Get My Name off of that!"

So sometimes when I'm still awake, I turn on Jay Leno around 11:35 to hear his opening monologue, which can be quite funny. He often comments on things in the news, but puts his own comedic twist on it. It is just entertainment and sometimes it isn't all that appropriate, but sometimes they are quite funny.

This one in particular made me laugh - it is from Friday night August 30th.

I tried to find a video of it but I didn't have any luck so here's a little transcript of it.

Jay says:
"Hey did you hear about this?
Because of a big printing problem, the government had to get rid of $30,000,000 worth of $100 bills.
Apparently the printing problem was the phrase "In God We Trust".
Apparently God said, "Hey, you're 16 Trillion dollars in debt, get my name off of that! GET MY NAME OFF OF THAT!""

Hahahahahahahahahahah

I found that to be quite amusing.

Poem

After a few interesting conversations with a coworker at work - about Christianity and what I believe and why I believe it - my mind went to this poem I received in a forward quite a while ago. So I thought I would post it.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak with human pride
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting 'I am clean living'.
I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting that I've failed and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I'm worth it.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner who received God's grace, somehow

When I say 'I am a Christian', I do not wish to judge
I have no authority - I only know I'm loved

Wishes.

It's time for another song. I've really been hanging onto the Lord through music and Bible verses these days. This song is a little different though, kind of the basic emotion that we experience in a break-up. And not all the lyrics in this song apply to my situation but some of them really do.

Truth: Part 7

I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans for good and not for evil; plans to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11

Truth: Part 6

Be gracious to me O Lord, for I am languishing; heal me O Lord for my bones are troubled. My soul also is greatly troubled. But You O Lord, how long? Turn O Lord, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping. My eye wastes away because of my grief, it grows weak because of all my foes. Psalm 6:2-4,6,7

Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping. The Lord has heard my plea. The Lord accepts my prayer. Psalm 6:8-9

Truth: Part 3.

I have called you by Name, you are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy one of Israel, your Savior.
Isaiah 43:1-3

Truth: Part 2

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the Everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary, His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary and young men shall fall exhausted, but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40: 28-31

Truth.

And we know that all things work together for good, for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
