Poem

After a few interesting conversations with a coworker at work - about Christianity and what I believe and why I believe it - my mind went to this poem I received in a forward quite a while ago. So I thought I would post it.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak with human pride
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting 'I am clean living'.
I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting that I've failed and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I'm worth it.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner who received God's grace, somehow

When I say 'I am a Christian', I do not wish to judge
I have no authority - I only know I'm loved

Wishes.

It's time for another song. I've really been hanging onto the Lord through music and Bible verses these days. This song is a little different though, kind of the basic emotion that we experience in a break-up. And not all the lyrics in this song apply to my situation but some of them really do.

I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans for good and not for evil; plans to give you a future and a hope.

Truth: Part 6

Be gracious to me O Lord, for I am languishing; heal me O Lord for my bones are troubled. My soul also is greatly troubled. But You O Lord, how long? Turn O Lord, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping. My eye wastes away because of my grief, it grows weak because of all my foes. Psalm 6:2-4,6,7

Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping. The Lord has heard my plea. The Lord accepts my prayer. Psalm 6:8-9

Truth: Part 3.

I have called you by Name, you are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy one of Israel, your Savior.
Isaiah 43:1-3

Truth: Part 2

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the Everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary, His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary and young men shall fall exhausted, but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40: 28-31

Truth.

And we know that all things work together for good, for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
